This is a fun little EP from Swedish death metal should-have-beens Evocation, who returned from the grave in the late '00s and have been consistently releasing material since. Here, we get no less than five cover tunes, most (if not all) of which will be familiar to anyone who likes bands like Evocation. They tackle Bolt Thrower's "...For Victory" (with honour and nobility; they're up to the task), Carcass's "Corporal Jigsore Quandary" (a big one to attempt, but they pull it off), Napalm Death's "You Suffer' (which they butcher and turn into an eight-minute drone tune — just kidding), Edge of Sanity's "Enigma" and At the Gates' "Terminal Spirit Disease" (yup, it sounds fine). Apart from that lifeless snare drum sound (you just ache for some expression, for it to sound different for just one hit, just once), there's nothing to complain about. The song choices are admirable, Evocation possess the skills to pull them off and there's a love for death metal running rampant throughout this whole fast-and-loud affair.
