By the time Eternal Summers took the stage, the room was packed at the Drake Hotel. Guitarist/vocalist Nicole Yun and drummer Daniel Cundiff are the original two members, and this year they added some low-end to the lineup with bassist Jonathan Woods. Much of the Roanoke, VA group's set was populated with new songs from their upcoming album Correct Behavior. On "You Kill," Yun proved she's able to really muster some dazzling shoegaze effects with her guitar when she wants to, while single "Million" was spiky and poppy with a hook that cut like a serrated edge. Another standout was "Girls in the City," for which Cundiff speak-sang, giving Yun's shrill voice a break. All in all, the band's performance was tight and satisfying. Their blend of '60s girl group melodies and garage punk edge reached new highs with Yun's textured riffs, Woods' fuzzed-out bass and Cundiff's quick, syncopated rhythms.
