The Elwins and Special Guests Perform "My Girl" / "Young Lions"

A couple weeks ago, rising indie popsters the Elwins took the stage at Toronto's Horseshoe Tavern to kick off Exclaim!'s 20th anniversary celebrations. The night was the first of a few Juno Concert Series shows in conjunction with the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. Their set featured a number of special guests performing covers of Canadian tunes, including members of Broken Social Scene, Sloan and Tokyo Police Club.

One of the highlights of the night was when Nils Edenloff from Rural Alberta Advantage joined the Elwins for a cover of Chilliwack's infectious hit "My Girl (Gone, Gone, Gone)." You can check out the footage from the soundcheck above.

Later in the night, Casey Mecija from Ohbijou came out to play with the Elwins, delivering a killer rendition of Canadian favourites the Constantines' "Young Lions." Below, you can check out the video from that soundcheck too.

The Elwins' debut album And I Thank You is out today (February 21), and we thank them for kicking off the 20th year of Exclaim! in such a great way. Be sure to check out the next show in the Juno Concert Series, hosted by NXNE on March 3 at the Horseshoe, featuring performances by Arkells, the Beauties and more.
