This intense, visceral six-track EP is clearly reminiscent of PJ Harvey, back when she was very young and very angry. Perhaps owing more to Harvey's predecessor Patti Smith, Anka yells, spits, moans and warbles like the torture is physical and in progress, not simply some remembered emotional molestation. But, for good measure, her voice can also be beautiful. Musically, we have rhythmic, blues-y alt-rock (with one real Sonic Youth rock-out), as well as creeping acoustic numbers for that slowly boiling anger. Watch out for this one, she'll bleed you dry.
