Following the acclaim given to his 2016 full-length, Hard Settle, Ain't Troubled, Ontario folksmith Donovan Woods has announced he's signed a new publishing deal with Warner/Chappell Music. And to celebrate, he's announced another round of tour dates.
The publishing company praised Woods for both his own recorded works and the songs he's crafted for the likes of Tim McGraw, Lady Antebellum's Charles Kelley, Billy Currington and Alan Doyle.
"We are so excited to be a part of Donovan's career as he grows more into the Nashville market," Warner/Chappell executive vice-president Ben Vaughn said in a statement. "Artists such as Tim McGraw and Charles Kelley, along with leading A&R executives are coming to understand how powerful Donovan's lyrical and melodic perspectives are in his songs."
Woods, who splits his time between Sarnia, ON, and Nashville also expressed his excitement over the deal, noting, "They were the first publisher I got to know when I arrived in Nashville, and were supportive and encouraging right off the bat, so it makes sense to me that the next chapter in my work moves forward with them."
While there's no word yet on when Woods will begin work on a follow-up to Hard Settle, Ain't Troubled, he'll be taking his songs out on the road for a series of shows between June and October. Some are festival gigs, while others will be headlining shows along the club circuit.
