Earlier this year, rapper Guru (née Keith Edward Elam) passed away after a year-long battle with cancer. Best known as the rapper for Gang Starr, his other half DJ Premier has revealed that a posthumous Gang Starr album could be on the way.

Speaking with XXL [via 2DopeBoyz], Premier revealed that he already has at least five unreleased Gang Starr tracks in his possession, while there are other artists in Europe who have seven or eight songs with Guru rapping on them. They've given Premier the vocal tracks, and he plans to spin them into Gang Starr gold.

"It's songs he did with [the European artists] and they never finished it and they said I can have them," Premier said. "They reached out and were like, As long as you're doing it. You can have the vocals. They are all brand new, from like a year and a half ago. I listened to them and I'll make them shits sound like we were together. Well, we will be together because spiritually, he's with me for the rest of my life."

Premier also revealed plans for a behind-the-scenes film documenting the iconic duo. "I'm putting together a Gang Starr DVD because I've been filming since 1989," he said. "I did all the filming until 1993. Then I started bringing guys with me. I have hundreds and hundreds of tapes of me and Guru arguing in the airport. Him and Shug fighting. Guru tried fighting everyone. Now, you look at it and it's like, Damn, I miss that."

As previously reported, Premier has also teamed up with Pete Rock for an upcoming collaborative album.
