Hailing from Dundas, Ontario the Dirty Nil have quickly become one of the more recognizable names in the current Canadian punk landscape. Their reckless, guitar-driven tunes caught the attention of NOFX frontman Fat Mike this year, who signed them for a one-off 7-inch with the punk icon's Fat Wreck Chords.
At Toronto's Horseshoe Tavern, we watched the trio play through "Cinnamon," the A-side from their latest 7-inch release for Fat Wreck.
After a quick count-in, frontman Luke Bentham leads the charge with driving power chords and remorseful lyrics about letting someone down, telling them "you can be pissed off if you want to" while admitting his mistake. Supported by an equally rocking rhythm section of drummer Kyle Fisher and bassist Dave Nardi, a short solo section follows before Bentham reaches high up into his vocal register for a strong finish.
