Delight

Eternity

BY Laura TaylorPublished Apr 1, 2003

Polish band Delight’s third release breeds progressive metal with goth and ambient in a delicate hybrid. The strong, sumptuous voice of Paulina Maslanka might overpower its instrumental surroundings if her melodies didn’t blend in so smoothly, complimenting the progression of riffs. Delight’s other female member, Barbara Lasek, also plays a key role in a band whose arrangements depend heavily on several layers of keyboards, yet credit for Eternity’s songwriting goes to founding members Maslanka, Jaroslaw Baran and Sebastian Wojtowicz. Eternity is both lovely and loud, sorrowful and triumphant, and a little melodramatic. While they do have their heavy moments, Delight’s slow, soothing compositions are a good soundtrack for a relaxing evening.
