Dead Obies to Record Next Album Live in Montreal, Share New Singles
Published Jun 11, 2015Montreal's self-described "Frenglish" hip-hop group Dead Obies have a new album on the way, but they won't be going about to the traditional way. Rather, they have announced plans to record their new songs live in concert this fall.
The album will be captured during three gigs at Montreal's Phi Centre, which will take place on consecutive night from October 14 to 16. The resulting album will be made up entirely of new songs, and it's expected out in the early months of 2016 through Bonsound.
Tickets for the shows cost $20 and can be purchased here.
In the meantime, Dead Obies have shared four new songs through the SoundCloud playlist Singles 2015. The official description calls these atmospheric, bilingual hip-hop tracks "new singles from Dead Obies' upcoming album," so presumably they will be recorded live as part of the upcoming shows. Scroll past the group's tour schedule to hear the songs, and take note of how much "Oh Lord" sounds like "No Tellin'" by Drake.
The new album will be the follow-up to 2013's Montréal $ud.
