Damon & Naomi Announce Tour, Play Toronto, Prep Record Store Day Single
Published Apr 07, 2011A couple of months ago, long-running soft poppers Damon & Naomi announced their upcoming album False Beats and True Hearts, but there is way more in store for fans from the duo. First off, the pair will be taking off to tour the record this May.
The pair will kick off their trip in Glasgow May 9, but will quickly make their way back to North America for a string of dates, including a stop at Toronto's Horseshoe Tavern on May 25. The dates on this side of the continent will be co-headlined with fellow sweetened duo Amor de Dias. Some shows, however, will see Damon & Naomi joined onstage by saxophonist Bhob Rainey and guitarist Michio Kurihara. Regardless of adding extra players, Damon Krukowski said their show will be just as intimate as ever.
"When we play live, we prefer to strip most everything away but the emotional core for us of the lyrics, and our voices," he said in a statement. "It's a more folky approach, trying to communicate the emotions in the songs as fully as we can in a live setting. For that reason we also love to bring lead players with us who respond and add to that kind of direct emotional approach."
Damon & Naomi will also be participating in Record Store Day, prepping a new single featuring False Beats and True Hearts cut "Walking Backwards" on the A-side, while a cover of Scott Walker's "The World's Strongest Man" graces the flip. Grab it if you can courtesy of Great Pop Supplement on April 16.
The band have also offered up a download of another new tune called "Shadow Boxing," which you can download for free here.
False Beats and True Hearts will be released May 17 on 20/20/20.
