Craving Theo

Portland, OR-based Craving Theo is obviously trying to emulate grunge kings Alice in Chains. Vocalist Calvin Baty has the rhythmic moan down, but the one thing that this band doesn't enjoy to the degree that Chains did is the inspired lyrics with branding riffs. Guitarist Bob Capka seems to be trying to rejuvenate the late '80s metal screeching guitar solo, which I was happy to see die. As a matter of fact, if this album would have come out in 1990, I think my opinion of it would be much higher, but now it's just old and tired.
