The bassist for the Smalls, those decade-old Albertan veterans of heaviosity, steps out with an acoustic side-track that sounds entirely natural and boasts nary a weak track. Mixing Spanish and early calypso influences into his earnest folk songs, Lund writes memorable memories and fleshes them out tastefully with a solid rhythm section, including upright bass. As this is his second album in five years, he's either busy or not that prolific. Either way, it'd be worth quite a wait for another record as good as this.
