I enjoy the wild confluence of disparate influences that show up in the first minute and change of this EP from Philadelphia's Cop Problem. Stoner rock drenched His Hero Is Gone worship, led by a woman who sounds like Zack de la Rocha, with a drummer who just wants to lay down blast beats no matter what the other band members are doing. Add in some cheese ball crust punk and cool, melody-driven d-beat and you've got a very energetic, fun EP that's over before you have time to process what happened. Let's not forget the nice too-clean-for-the-squats production, some acoustic guitars near the end and the weird, triggered drum sound! And that cover art? Not at all what you're expecting, which is a nice touch. Cool EP; I'm looking forward to the debut full-length.
