CMW in Search of Indies
Canadian Music Week (CMW) is currently seeking independent recording artists to apply for 2007 Independent Music Awards aka the Indies. The awards ceremony will kick off the five-day, Toronto-based CMW music conference on Wednesday, March 7, 2007. The Indies celebrate outstanding achievement in Canadian sound recording by independent artists covering 14 different genres, with 27 out of the 30 categories decided by both the general public and members of the music industry. Also included in this event is the presentation of the 2007 Galaxie Rising Stars Award of the CBC, which is decided by the nations music critics (print, TV, radio and online media). This award includes a $3,000 cash prize. Applications are due Wednesday, November 15, 2006. Submissions will be accepted exclusively through Sonicbids (www.sonicbids.com/indies2007).
