City of Glass Prep 'The Diving Bell' EP

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jun 7, 2011

For the last couple of years, City of Glass have been carving out a niche in Vancouver's indie scene with their hooky, backward-glancing take on jangling new wave pop. Now, the duo of Michael Champion and David Phu are dropping a new EP ahead of a planned debut full-length.

The EP is called The Diving Bell, and it's coming out digitally later this month. The four-track offering blends chiming guitars and peppy dance rock rhythms with twinkling electro adornments and hypnotic programming. See the tracklist below and the album cover above. This is the follow-up to last 2009's Equations EP.

The Diving Bell will be out digitally on June 21, so keep your eyes peeled to the group's Bandcamp page for a pay-what-you-can download. This EP is just an appetizer for a full-length that's due to drop sometime this fall or winter.

City of Glass told the Georgia Straight that they will be temporarily leaving Canada for Berlin, where they will spend the next six months. The German capital will serve as their home base as they tour Europe and promote their new material. Once they return, they will drop their as-yet-untitled debut LP.

The Diving Bell EP:

1. "Sticks and Stones"
2. "Tourist"
3. "Little Shadows"
4. "Big Ideas"
