Chris Page keeps plenty busy fronting Camp Radio and the Stand GT, but the Ottawa-based folk-punk music maker is shining the spotlight back on his solo work with a new album called Volume vs. Voice — and Exclaim! is streaming it in its entirety before it hits shelves next week.
Page's last solo offering came in the form of 2010's A Date with a Smoke Machine, though the new record seamlessly picks up where the last one left off. Continuing to showcase his knack for writing "lyrically-striking, folk-pop gems," Volume vs. Voice is a familiar, yet diverse collection of new songs.
It opens with a bit of twang on "Rocket & Savings," though Page shows off his softer side on tracks like "Hunker Down," his darker side on "Treatment Burns," and his penchant for a slightly more rock'n'roll sound on "My Focal Point."
And while each song is its own unique entity, Page's earnest vocals, honest lyrics and steadfast guitar work are the unwavering strings that weave the whole record together.
Volume vs. Voice arrives on April 21, and you can scroll past Page's upcoming Canadian tour dates to give the new album a spin.
Tour dates:
04/22 Vancouver, BC - Skinny Fat Jacks
04/23 Calgary, AB - The Ironwood
04/24 Saskatoon, SK - Vangeli's
04/25 Edmonton, AB - The Brixx
04/30 Charlottetown, PE - Baba's
05/02 Halifax, NS - The Carleton
05/09 Ottawa, ON - Raw Sugar
