Several months after Cerebral Ballzy announced sophomore set Jaded & Faded would arrive sometime in 2014, the New York punk unit have finally fit the LP with a release date. The album will come out in Canada on June 17 through Dine Alone Records, with Julian Casablancas' Cult Records handling the release in the U.S.
As previously reported, the Brooklyn quintet tracked the set with in with producer/TV on the Radio soundscaper Dave Sitek last year in Texas, and the LP is said to hover around themes of "broken homes and broken bones." A new interview with the band reveals that they worked at not just repeating the template found on their 2011 self-titled debut.
"We didn't want to write the same album with different song titles," drummer Tom Kogut revealed to Rolling Stone. "We went into writing a lot of the songs with no set plans. We're going for this punky abrasive sound done with such a casual melody."
The 13-song album features previously premiered material like "City's Girl," and "Better in Leather," with the outfit now unveiling the mid-tempo, somewhat vintage Bad Brains-styled "Lonely as America."
