If you've been looking for some amazing live music we've got the shows you need to be at in this week's Can't Miss Concerts spanning March 12 to 18. This week's highlights feature some heavier bands, so whether you're a veteran pit warrior or you've never dabbled in aggressive music, you won't want to miss these performances.

Baptists

Vancouver-based metalcore unit Baptists are playing a show this week in Victoria along with Sumac. The band echo the forefathers of the genre, channelling the brooding atmosphere and breakneck riffs of bands like Converge. Be prepared to hear crushing tracks from the band's most recent full-length Bloodmines, released late last year via Southern Lord Records.

Cancer Bats

Cancer Bats' record release show this week in Toronto is a celebration of Ontario's heavy music scene. The southern hardcore vets will be playing alongside metalcore crushers Exalt and Alexisonfire offshoot Dead Tired. Expect to hear some new tracks from Searching For Zero, as well as plenty of other mosh-worthy tunes from their revered catalogue.

In Flames

Melodic death metal mainstays In Flames will be hitting the Great White North this week as a part of their lengthy tour in support of their latest LP, Siren Charms. The band's technical ability and soaring, catchy metal hooks are responsible for their fervent and long-established following. They will be travelling east across the Prairies alongside fellow headbangers All That Remains and Wovenwar, so be sure not to miss out when they drop by your town.

Trash Talk consistently deliver blistering, chaotic sets and this show is sure to be no exception.

The Gaslight Anthem

In case furious metal and hardcore aren't your thing, you can take it down a notch when the folk-punks in the Gaslight Anthem stop over in Alberta and Manitoba this week. The band are touring in support of their latest release, Get Hurt. Although their tunes aren't abrasive, the band still maintains high energy at their live shows with their upbeat riffs and Springsteen-style chorus hooks.

Tycho

If you're in the mood for something much more meditative than the other acts featured this week, Tycho's show in Vancouver is the place to be. The tour is in support of his most recent album Awake, which employs ambient electronic beats alongside glassy, floating guitars to create a beautifully textured soundscape. Tycho's latest show in Toronto found him performing alongside a live band, which brought a "nice spontaneous element" to his already well crafted songs.
