As generic hi-fidelity "punk" dominates the other half of today's youth, Caffeine offers a refreshing take on the genre. What differentiates their style from the infestation of budget clones is the fact that they're British and are thoughtful songwriters. Just before an anticipated dive into a repetitive and abusive chorus, they take a musical left turn avoiding the route of oppressive, repetitive and limited techniques that usually occurs. The result is an offering that at times soars with appealing astute elements of British pop rock infused with an edge. A minor victory indeed.
