Save Yourself a Lifetime

BY Jasamine White-GluzPublished Apr 1, 2006

Fans of Southern born and bred emo will appreciate Burns Out Bright’s latest effort Save Yourself a Lifetime. Much like their predecessors in Braid or Jimmy Eat World, this South Carolina unit pride themselves on pretty guitar riffs, clean vocals and memorable choruses. While this formula works on some songs better than others, the biggest problem with this album is that it never really takes any risks. Burns Out Bright did show promise on their previous releases, but on Save Yourself a Lifetime they still haven’t shown me why I should pick up their CD rather than any Get Up Kids album.
