Banking on connections with the past for notoriety, Texas's Broken Teeth are clearly more interesting and entertaining than any of their "notable" successes. Touting hair rock outfits Dangerous Toys, Dirty Looks and Pariah as previous efforts does put Viva La Rock, Fantastico! into context, but it almost detracts from what they're up to now. That would be a subtle mix of Danko Jones's simple rhythmic humping and steely attitude coupled with a not-so-delicate adoration for AC/DC that could give Airbourne a run for their money. Not entirely innovative, but still kind of fun, the band's passionate, upbeat delivery harkens back to when Bon Scott kept his cohorts hot and fast instead of plunky and lumbering. This is fun four-chord rock with few surprises but many moments of mindless mirth.
