Boils

Pride and Persecution

BY Rob FerrazPublished Jul 1, 2003

Four years after their debut full-length, Philadelphia’s Boils return. As with most TKO bands, these boys play tough-sounding punk rock with some old school hardcore mixed in. Although you’ve heard scores of punk outfits with the same formula, the Boils do play it well. And they manage the balance between the faster and harsh hardcore stuff and melodic mid-tempo punk/oi, like pros. Some of the songs, like "Eyes Hit The Floor” and "Anthems,” have that catchy Rancid quality that hook you on the first listen. If you’re after a new set of fist-pumping sing-along anthems, this may be what you’re looking for.
