Toronto sugarmongers the Bicycles have designed an interactive DVD board game to accompany last year's The Good, the Bad & the Cuddly CD.
A collaboration with sketch comedy vets Inessa Fratowski, Holly Prazoff and Jared Sales, the object of the game is to get all four to six members of the Bicycles "through a mis-happed adventure, one by one completing tasks in order to make it to the venue in time for the show that night. Styled in the same vein as early 90s video board games like Nightmare and PartyMania this is a race against time where obstacles arise, villans are introduced, and new friends are made."
The DVD also features extras including music videos and comes packaged in the playing board itself, thus showcasing the band's "crafty aesthetic" that has graced their t-shirts, song books, CD carrying cases and other assorted novelties.
According to their label, Fuzzy Logic Recordings, this is not the band's follow-up to The Good, the Bad & the Cuddly, but a companion piece. The Bicycles are currently "between their busy touring schedules, day jobs, musical side projects and saving the world, as well as writing and working on their sophomore album, due out in early '08."
A board game release party has been scheduled in Toronto for August 10 at the Tranzac. More info can be found at their MySpace page.
