Baptists

"Calling"

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Sep 18, 2014

Baptists' first Bloodmines preview was the furiously-paced "Harm Induction," but the latest leak, "Calling," crushes us with a comparatively slower missive on the work-a-day world.

The track first lets loose a terrifying tumble of drum work from master percussionist Nick Yacyshyn and detuned guitars booming up from the depths of the darkest of pits. As the track locks into a Converge-style blitz of riffs and ragged cries, vocalist Andrew Drury takes a dour look at the futility of sitting in traffic to partake in the 9-to-5 lifestyle ("Embark on daily journeys/To seats that stay in place").

If you're ready to clock out and rage for the rest of the day, you can give Baptists' crusty new cut a stream down below.

Bloodmines lands October 14 through Southern Lord, with a North American tour alongside labelmates Obliterations and Torch Runner starting up later in the month. You'll find the details of the trip, which includes a stop at Vancouver's Biltmore Cabaret on October 25, over here.
