Although Japan has a knack for coming out with bands that hit the mark in genres like noise and garage, their pop-punk output has been less than prolific or notable. Hi-Standard is something of an exception, riding the Fat Wreck Chords wave a few years back. Baby Little Tablets could be the band to really break through in this style of music. They play an extremely catchy brand of unpolished punk-pop that would be right at home on a circa 1992 East Bay compilation. None of these 12 tunes break the three-minute mark and the whole thing is over a little too fast. Let's hope Japan is hiding more acts like this.
