There's something quite unfortunate about the self-deprecating title to Avi Buffalo's upcoming At Best Cuckold, but it's a lucky day for fans of the indie rocker born Avi Zahner-Isenberg, as he's streaming the entirety of the set ahead of its official September 9 via Sub Pop. You can check out the collection now on Exclaim.ca.
As previously reported, the record was written and produced by Zahner-Isenberg, with a press release explaining that the album was conceived over the course of three years that found the leader "transitioning from teenager to twentysomething," thus "traversing the interpersonal wilds which accompany that age."
Recorded in various locations in California and New York, the album features previously premiered cuts "Memories of You" and "So What." Now also on display are songs like the windswept folk "Overwhelmed with Pride," the slip-sliding six-strings and piano-plunking AM Gold arrangement of "She Is Seventeen," and the soft rock clack of "Oxygen Tank."
If you're in Canada, you can hear of all of that and more down below.
Avi Buffalo has a long string of tour dates coming up, including some here in Canada. You can see the complete schedule here.
UPDATE: This stream was available for one week only and is no longer available.
