From 1997 to 2002, Providence, RI was home to influential noise rock quartet Arab on Radar. The band dropped a pile of albums during their existence and followed those up with 2003's Stolen Singles compilation and their 2008 live DVD, Sunshine for Shady People. Eventually, the group's members went on to play in the Chinese Stars, Athletic Automaton and Made in Mexico, and that was that. Well, rumours are now stirring that Arab on Radar have reformed.
According to Punknews, the Locust's Justin Pearson, who runs the Three One G imprint, announced on his Facebook page that the band had reformed. "Well, someone let the cat out of the bag... Arab on Radar is back together," he wrote.
As if that weren't enough, the news of a tour is already in full swing. While the dates have yet to be confirmed, DD/MM/YYYY have posted two dates with Arab on Radar on their MySpace page: August 6 in Montreal and August 7 in Toronto. Better yet, if you're planning to travel a long distance to catch Arab on the Radar while they're in Canada, tickets for the Toronto show are already available here.
