TRACK OF THE DAY: As 2010 inches closer and music fanatics search for new artists who will make their mark over the next 12 months, Andreya Triana's name should surely be up for serious consideration. The vocalist, based in the seaside town of Brighton, in the UK, has recently been fanning interest in her work via collaborations with Bonobo and her contributions to Flying Lotus' shimmering "Tea Leaf Dancers".
"Lost Where I Belong" debuted on a memorable session of BBC Radio 1 DJ Gilles Peterson's Worldwide radio show a few months ago and showcases Triana's raspy yet sensual voice. It underlines why she is destined for, or at least deserving of, much success when her Bonobo-produced debut album drops in February on Ninja Tune.
While we anticipate the remix by Flying Lotus, the video for the original version is already up for your viewing pleasure. Additionally, the unplugged version of the song, which is actually superior to the already impressive official recording, is available on her MySpace page.
