While we've recently seen the likes of City and Colour, Swollen Members, Said the Whale and more toasted with their own signature beers, Denver crafters Trve Brewing are upping the ante by unfurling plans to give occult metal unit Absu four seperate tributary brews.
A press release confirms that the company's sudsy salute begins with "Eastern Candle." The pale ale was named after the band's In The Eyes Of Ioldànach track "Never Blow Out The Eastern Candle," was fermented in "brettanomyces in white wine barrels," and is described as featuring "a fine equilibrium of wheat and white wine with a slight, fruit-like yeast character."
Somewhere down the line, an additional three beers will be delivered. "Tiphareth," referencing the band's 1995 LP The Sun of Tiphareth, is apparently a red ale with a taste both "malty" and "tart." Brown ale "Manannán" will be "a more assertive brew with malt character," having been soured and fermented with rye grain and brettanomyces in whiskey barrels. The company closes out the campaign with "Winter Zephyr," a black ale.
Other bands saluted by Trve Brewing since starting up in 2011 include Sunn O))), who got their own Stout O))).
Absu, meanwhile, have another batch of North American dates on the horizon, including a stop at Ottawa's Mavericks venue on November 16. You'll find the rest of the details down below.
