Your Pal Steve Returns to Celebrate 25 Years of 'Blue's Clues' in Wholesome Video
Nick Jr. did not come to play with our nostalgia
It gets worse: millennials may remember a difficult time in our collective childhoods when, amid our daily mystery solving with man's periwinkle cartoon best friend Blue, the man himself — Steve Burns — told us he was leaving the show. Is that where this deep-seated fear of abandonment comes from? Hmm.
Anyway, yesterday (September 7) the Nick Jr. Twitter account posted a video captioned, "So about that time Steve went off to college..." featuring none other than Burns, appearing to address his departure in celebration of the 25th anniversary of Blue's Clues.
"Hi. You got a second?" Burns asked while sporting his signature green striped polo shirt. He went on to talk about going off to college and apologized for the "abrupt" way he handed us off to his brother Joe all those years ago.
"I guess I just wanted to say that, after all these years, I never forgot you. Ever. And I'm super glad we're still friends," Burns spoke directly to his original viewership, earnestly telling the now-adult audience that he's proud of our accomplishments.
It's gotten over 2 million views so far and was clearly something we didn't know we needed.
