With this year's Vancouver International Film Festival taking place in-person and online through VIFF Connect, organizers have secured Grammy-winning and Oscar-nominated composer Terence Blanchard for the fest's AMP Summit event, which will explore the role of art and music in film.

Alongside the BlaKkKlansman and Da 5 Bloods composer, the weekend Summit event — taking place from October 2 to 4 — will also see a masterclass by Stranger Things music supervisor, Nora Felder; as well as Q&As, panel discussions and showcases featuring Morgan Rhodes, music supervisor for Dear White People; Janet Lopez, music supervisor for The Twilight Zone; Edge of the Knife composer, Kinnie Starr, and many more.

"At the core of VIFF AMP is a sense of responsibility to the art of creation," AMP Summit co-curator Rob Calder said in a release. "The Music in Film Summit is a place for career development as well as an opportunity for industry insiders and outsiders to innovate and to learn how to perpetuate respect within filmmaking. We provide not just networking opportunities, but the space to think broadly about how a person's approach to their work has an impact on the world."

"Vancouver is the future: it is an international gateway to art and talent, and has an amazing production scene that is showcased in VIFF's global platform," added co-curator, Tony Scudellari.

VIFF AMP passes are on sale now for $45, while single-event tickets are available for $10. The summit will take place toward the end of VIFF's 2020 programming, which will also feature Totally Indie Day and VIFF Immersed, among other events.

The entire festival will take place from September 24 to October 7.
