Last year, Adam Wingard tried his hand at a new entry into the Blair Witch series to mixed reviews. Despite the many ups and downs, however, it's unlikely that the franchise will ever go away. In fact, it looks like the story is coming to TV.
Eduardo Sanchez, co-director of the original Blair Witch Project, says he's working on a televised adaptation of the film. Speaking with the Diminishing Returns podcast, he dropped some major hints about the project.
"Well, you know, I can't really discuss," he said. "I think that the idea of a Blair Witch anthology has always been very – just a really interesting thing. You're close. You're in the ballpark. You know, and I think it might be one of those things that might be – you know – the more you think about it, you're like, 'That might be the perfect… a TV show.' You know? So, we'll see what happens, but I think that's the next big thing for Blair Witch. Probably TV."
Sanchez added that he no longer owns the rights to the franchise, so it will be up to Lionsgate to decide if a series makes its way to small screens.
