FX has said yes chef to renewing critically acclaimed Christopher Storer-created dramedy The Bear for a third season, set to air in 2024.
Season 2 of the series garnered Exclaim!'s sole 10/10 TV review — and while it'll be a tough act to follow "I wear suits now," the half-hour show will get another season to potentially explain Carmy's (Jeremy Allen White) Counterparts tattoo.
The latest instalment saw Carmy (White), Sydney (Ayo Edebiri), Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) and co. work to transform the shuttered Original Beef sandwich shop into a fine-dining establishment and do a lot of personal growth along the way. All of that emotional poignancy was also set to a bunch of great music.
"The Bear, which wowed audiences in its first season only to achieve even greater heights in season two, has become a cultural phenomenon," FX Entertainment President Nick Grad said in a statement. "We're so proud to partner with Christopher Storer, Joanna Calo, Josh Senior, and the rest of the creative team, as well as the brilliant cast led by Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. What they and the crew have done is truly remarkable, and we and our partners at Hulu join fans in looking forward to the next chapter in the story of The Bear."
Season 1 of The Bear, which premiered on Hulu (Disney+ in Canada) last year, still has pending Emmy nominations for outstanding comedy series, lead comedy actor (White), supporting comedy actor (Moss-Bachrach) and actress (Edebiri), as well as comedy writing and directing. The awards have been postponed until January 2024 due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.
