Ruby Rose recently shocked many by announcing she was stepping down from the CW's Batwoman series, with many questioning why she suddenly decided to leave the show. Now the actress has opened up somewhat about the decision to stop playing Batwoman, though she's sparked more questions than answers.
In an Instagram post late Wednesday (May 27), Rose finally broke her silence about leaving her starring role, writing, "It wasn't an easy decision but those who know, know." She then added, "I have stayed silent because that's my choice for now but know I adore you all," before closing the post with "hangs up cowl and cape."
As you can see, Rose fails to provide any real answer as to exactly why she is leaving the show. However, rumours are swirling that Rose is stepping down because she sustained a serious back injury while on set shooting Batwoman during a stunt scene.
An anonymous source told TV Line, however, that the decision to leave the show was not entirely up to Rose.
"It was a breakup. She wasn't happy working on the show, and did that make her fun to work with? No," the source said. "So everyone decided it would be in the best interests of the show, and for all concerned, if they parted ways. It just wasn't a good fit."
As previously reported, Warner Bros. TV/Berlanti Prods. will now recast the role, with Batwoman still set to return for Season 2.
