Because of time doing that thing, it has somehow been nearly an entire year since Gerard Johnstone's creepy AI doll horror movie M3GAN had flash mobs everywhere busting weird new moves. Production is now officially underway on a sequel to the film.

In a new interview with Collider, executive producer and Vice President of Feature Film Development at Blumhouse Productions, Ryan Turek, confirmed that M3GAN 2.0 is alive and ready to dance again.

"M3GAN 2.0 is underway," Turek told the publication's Steve Weintraub and Tamera Jones. "We haven't started shooting or anything like that. We're aiming towards that January release date that was set," he continued, referring to the sequel's pending release next year on January 25, 2025. It was greenlit just weeks after the first instalment film premiered.

The second M3GAN instalment will see the return of stars Allison Williams and Violet McGraw, who played a young woman named Gemma and her eight-year-old niece, Cady, respectively.

While there are no plot details at this point, the original movie followed the developments of Gemma suddenly becoming orphaned Cady's caretaker, and the lethal combination of parenting uncertainty and work stress leading the elder character to pair her AI doll prototype with the child. God only knows what could happen next.
