Kevin Smith is bringing the fictional Mooby's fast-food joint from his classic 1999 film Dogma into the real world via a new delivery-only pop-up restaurant.
Smith announced he would bring the virtual Mooby's to Los Angeles in the wake of the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, with proceeds going to support displaced food service workers.
"Ever since I first introduced the fictional fast food joint in my films, folks have said 'You suck at movies, so open a Mooby's!'" Smith wrote in an Instagram post.
The fast-food pop-up restaurant goes live this Sunday (April 19) in L.A. for an exclusive Mooby's preview before its full launch scheduled for sometime later this year, as Smith says, "pandemic depending." Mooby's initial menu includes dishes such as Mooby's Messy Lasagna Sandwich, Hater Totz and Chocolate Covered Pretzels, plus meals will come with a Kevin Smith-autographed "Reboot card," that will "entitle the bearer to front row slots when the pop-up is finally open to the public."
Deliveries will be completed by Postmates in the Los Angeles area, with proceeds going to No Us Without You, a charity working to provide food for families of undocumented back-of-house staff who have been displaced by the COVID-19 pandemic.
