Drake-Produced, Zendaya-Starring 'Euphoria' Pilot Picked Up by HBO

Drake got his start on a teen television drama, and he's returning to the medium as an executive producer. Along with Future the Prince, he'll executive produce a new show called Euphoria, which has just been picked up by HBO.
 
The series is based on an Israeli show called HOT, and creators of the original Ron Leshem and Daphna Levin will also serve as executive producers.
 
Former Disney star Zendaya will star in the show and portray a 17-year-old named Rue. The story delves into issues facing teens, including sex, drugs, identity, social media and friendship.
 
The series will also star Storm Reid, Jacob Elordi, Maude Apatow, Brian "Astro" Bradley, Angus Cloud, Eric Dane, Alexa Demie, Barbie Ferreira, Nika King, Hunter Schafer and Sydney Sweeney
 
Sam Levinson of Wizards of Waverly Place will write each episode in the first series, while the pilot was directed by Augustine Frizzell.
