David Fincher and Charlize Theron Making 'Mindhunter' for Netflix

David Fincher didn't exactly have the greatest year. After all, his anticipated HBO projects Videosynchrazy and Utopia were both shelved. Fortunately, the acclaimed director has got another hot project up his sleeve with a new Netflix series.

The show is called Mindhunter and is based on John Douglas and Mark Olshaker's 1996 book Mind Hunter: Inside the FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit.

Mindhunter was initially developed as a show for HBO in the late 2000s, but the network ultimately passed ont he project (they really love to toy with Fincher, it seems). Instead, it'll now appear as a Netflix series.

The show is slated to star Charlize Theron, though it's unclear exactly when it will hit the streaming service.

Thanks to Deadline for the tip.
