Sled Island Unveils Full 2023 Lineup with Weird Nightmare, Cola, Sister Ray, Vivek Shraya

Gloin, Sunglaciers, Mother Tongues, the Body, Gustaf, Cecile Believe, Mother Tongues and more have also been added

Following the announcement of its first wave of artists for 2023 in January, Calgary's Sled Island Music & Arts Festival has unveiled its full lineup for this year's Bartees Strange-curated edition.

Taking place from June 21 to 25, the likes of METZ frontman Alex Edkins's Weird Nightmare, ColaSister Ray and Vivek Shraya will now join previously announced acts like Osees, DEHD and Helado Negro.

The Body, Blackwater Holylight, Margaritas Podridas, Gustaf, Cecile Believe, JWords, Maneka, Marlaena Moore, Super Duty Tough Work, Gloin, Maky Lavender, Ghost Woman, JayWood, Indian Giver, Mother Tongues, Young Dene, Sargeant X Comrade, Amy Nelson, 86Love, Sunglaciers, Ryan Bourne, Miesha & the Spanks, Samatha Savage Smith, Kaeyae Alo, Carissa Gem and Stucco have also been revealed as some of the festival's 200-plus performers.

Sled Island has also announced that JUNO-winning comedian and actor Dave Merheje will be the 2023 comedy headliner, with Jordanne Brown, Tin Lorica, Mark Little, Amy Edgar, Jeff D'Silva and Sarah Adams also bringing the laughs. 

New this year, the festival has developed a partnership with Iranian artist-run SET Experimental Art Events. The organization has curated a selection of electronic and experimental musicians from Iran and its diaspora as part of the SLED X SET project. Sepehr, Temp-Illusion X and Amir B. Ash, Roya, HERR SPECTRE, Maryam Sirvan, SarrSew, mHz and Hailstones are among them.

Passes to attend are on sale via the Sled Island website and in-person at Lukes Drug Mart (112 4th St. NE). A limited supply of single tickets for the newly announced shows will go on sale this Friday (May 5) at 12 p.m. MT.
