R&B singer Trey Songz is at the centre of a controversy once again, this time in regards to the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the weekend, he performed at a nightclub in Ohio, and now organizers have received an official citation for bylaw infractions.

According to NBC, approximately 500 people attended a Trey Songz event at a nightclub called Aftermath on Saturday (December 5). The Ohio Investigative Unit told NBC that patrons were spotted sharing drinks and making no efforts to maintain social distancing.

Further, the venue had no physical barriers in place, and both employees and attendees were walking around without masks on.

"Basically, it was just a concert environment," the Ohio Investigative Unit's Eric Wolf told NBC News affiliate WCMH. "If you had taken that event and put it in 2019, it would have been pretty much the same concert, same event that was taking place last night."

The Investigative Unit has referred the case to the Ohio Liquor Control Commission, who may lay fines or even suspend the venue's liquor licence.
