According to TMZ, Songz turned himself in with the assistance of his attorney Shawn Holley. He was booked at 6 a.m. local time, then released at 8 a.m. after posting a $50,000 bond.
The performer was accused of brutally beating Andrea Buera at a Hollywood Hills party during the NBA All-Star weekend in Los Angeles last month. According to Buera, Songz was upset that she was talking to another man. Songz claims there are witnesses who can refute the claims.
Buera is being represented by Lisa Bloom, daughter of famed feminist lawyer Gloria Allred and a famous feminist lawyer in her own right.
Around the time of his arrest, Songz shared the following tweet:
For weeks my lawyers & Mgmt have asked me not to comment on this and I initially agreed but this morning I feel that my fam, the women that raised me, my friends & fans especially the youth need to hear from me. I won't be speaking too much more on this but would like to thank you for all the prayers and support. 🙏🏾❤️💪🏾— Trey Songz (@TreySongz) March 19, 2018
