Nunavut's Terry Uyarak has detailed his debut solo album. The self-taught singer-songwriter will share Nunarjua Isulinginniani ("Before the World Ends") on October 30 through Aakuluk Music.

Produced by Jace Lasek of the Besnard LakesNunarjua Isulinginniani finds Uyarak writing of his experiences as a husband, father and hunter across 14 songs, interwoven with storytelling interludes from Igloolik elder Simon Qamaniq.

Alongside the announcement, Uyarak has shared new song "Anuri," which features a guest spot from Polaris Music Prize long-lister Riit. An accompanying lyric video animated and directed by Christopher Mills follows a polar bear journey across a Nunavut landscape, illuminated by northern lights.

"Anuri" is a cover of a song written by the artist's late friend Solomon Uyarasuk. "I dedicate this song to the friends and family of Solomon and the many children who are named after him," Uryarak said of the song. "Riit is an amazing artist that inspires me to continue in music and in life. We will continue to write and sing again sooner or later."

Riit added, "I feel honoured to be a part of this project. As a collaborator, but most importantly as a friend. These songs are deeply meaningful coming from knowledge keepers — this is what the universe has been waiting for."
