In spite of social distancing, Canada Day House Party is ready to celebrate on July 1 with a musical lineup that truly has something for everyone, in addition to contests, giveaways and much more.

Presented by Air Miles, the new virtual festival will feature performances from Sam Roberts BandCadence Weapon & Skratch BastidDean BrodyDear Rougethe Tragically Hip's Gord SinclairWilliam PrinceBonjaythe Trews, and more to be announced.

Alongside these favourites, the event will also feature some of the country's exciting new talent. Before tuning in to Canada Day House Party on July 1 at 3 p.m. ET, look below to discover four artists we're excited to see rock the house next week.

Riit

Following the release of a folk-leaning EP in 2017, Riit went bigger and bolder with 2019's ataataga, deftly combining Inuktitut lyrics, Nunavut's rich songwriting scene and throat singing with synth pop for her stunning full-length debut. The release is poised to make an impact this year, too, recently earning her a Juno nomination for Indigenous Artist or Group of the Year, and a long list nomination for the 2020 Polaris Music Prize.

Featuring collaborations with Zaki Ibrahim, Elisapie and Josh Q, ataataga was produced by Holy Fuck's Graham Walsh, whose work on the boards lets Riit's voice lead the way melodically, rhythmically and texturally. On "qaumajuapik," a beat remains steady and unobtrusive, with the synths following suit, making for a great display of her unique artistry.

Caveboy

Caveboy opened 2020 with the release of their full-length debut album Night in the Park, Kiss in the Dark, an album Exclaim! praised for its non-apologetic lyrics and synth arrangement strength. While they had some accompanying tour plans spoiled by the pandemic, the Montreal trio has since used the time off the road to connect with fans and further discuss their latest on Instagram Live through the weekly "Tunesdays" series.

Caveboy's isolation time online has also yielded some socially distanced home recordings, which the group have cut together for their "Together/Apart Sessions" series. The more songs they perform from Night in the Park, the more elaborate the edits have gotten, as you'll find with this recent colourful clip for "N.Y.P."

Myles Castello

Having toured North America virtually this past March — including a stop at Exclaim! HQ — Myles Castello joins Canada Day House Party well versed in our current digital dance, but the Scarborough upstart's R&B is sure to move you no matter where you're tuning in.

A moody mix of modern melodicism and club-minded musicality is what powers his singles output since 2018, the most recent of which is this year's "Blue." Teaming with Toronto producer Jandre Amos on his latest, Castello coasts between sung and rhythmic delivery before a soaring chorus, made all the more memorable with supporting harmonies later on.

LOONY

Upon its release in April, LOONY's cinematic JOYRiDE EP took listeners for a spin through six tracks spanning R&B, gospel and psych folk — all connected by Kira Huszar's versatile vocal style. "I guess this EP is a way to recontextualize some parts of my growing up," she would tell Apple Music upon JOYRiDE's release. "With these songs, I'm revisiting old wounds and relationships and trying to take control of them."

Before this self-examination came last year's soulful single "Some Kinda Love," which LOONY shared last November alongside a live performance video that has since cruised past 1.5 million views. You'll feel just as uplifted when she sings, backed by a four-piece band a trio of vocalists, "It's just another day in the neighbourhood, it seems / But somehow now, I feel a part of everything."
