Noel Gallagher Says Younger Self Might Have Hated His Damon Albarn Collab: "I'd Fucking Knife Myself in the Bollocks"

The Oasis–Blur rivalry was strong in the '90s

Noel Gallagher has reflected on his 2017 collaboration with Oasis rival, Blur's Damon Albarn, in an interview with The Big Issue, suggesting that a younger Gallagher might have reacted to the team-up by reaching for a knife and aiming it at his own "bollocks."

The ever-candid musician, who sang backing vocals on Gorillaz' "We Got the Power," admitted that his reaction would have depended on the day. On a good day, he might have casually shrugged it off, saying, "'Yeah, I guess that could happen.' On a bad day, 'I'd fucking knife myself in the bollocks."'

Gallagher also spoke of his experience meeting David Bowie, revealing that he was so intoxicated meeting the late musician that he has zero recollection of the event, only vaguely recalling being ushered into Bowie's dressing room at Wembley Arena in the '90s and witnessing the legend applying makeup in a mirror.

"If I could go back, I would appreciate it so much more," he said. "I'd tell him what he meant to me growing up, and how much he means to me now."

This comes amid rumours that Oasis might reunite for a series of "four huge concerts" in 2025, and follows brother and former bandmate Liam Gallagher's comments that Noel is a "potato" and "has done a lot of damage to Oasis as a brand."

While fans eagerly await the fate of an Oasis reunion, they can find solace in the existence of "AISIS," an AI-generated Oasis band that recently released their debut album, The Lost Tapes Volume One

Meanwhile, Damon Albarn has surprised fans by reuniting with Blur for their comeback album, The Ballad of Darren, and hitting the road for their first tour in eight years.
