Noel Gallagher Found His Unreleased "Space Rock" Album in a Sock Drawer

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Aug 28, 2018

Noel Gallagher recently came across an unreleased solo album that he previously claimed to have destroyed.

Speaking to Matt Morgan in a recent interview [via NME], he revealed that he'd recently uncovered the album — in a sock drawer.

It was recorded with production duo Amorphous Androgynous shortly after he left Oasis, but the singer-songwriter later claimed that he had destroyed the masters.

Now, Gallagher's admitted that the masters haven't actually been destroyed, but it doesn't mean the album's going to see the light of day any time soon.

"It might be nice to go back and revisit it in years to come, because 'Shoot A Hole Into The Sun' is fucking great and there might be more stuff like that in there," he told Morgan. "Best to give it a bit of distance though I think."

Despite the hesitancy, it still seems more likely than an Oasis reunion.

His last album under the banner Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds arrived last year with Who Built the Moon?, which is currently nominated for the 2018 Mercury Prize.
