Mercury Prize Reveals 2018 Nominees

The Mercury Prize will once again be awarded to the best British album of the year, and the 2018 shortlist of nominees has just been announced.
 
Arctic Monkeys, Florence and the Machine, Jorja Smith, King Krule, Lily Allen and Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds are amongst this year's finalists.
 
According to the Prize's official website, the nominee list "celebrates and promotes the best of UK music recognising artistic achievement across a range of contemporary music genres."

The shortlist was selected by an independent panel of judges, made up of writers, broadcasters and musicians.
 
The winner will be announced on September 20. In the meantime, peruse the full shortlist of nominated albums below.
 
Last year's grand prize was awarded to Sampha for his album Process.
