Branching out even further from her storied career in Sonic Youth, Kim Gordon has announced her first-ever solo album. Titled No Home Record, the full-length is set to arrive on October 13 via Matador.

For a taste of Gordon's first proper solo venture, we've already got the new single "Sketch Artist," which has arrived alongside a video directed by Berlin-based artist/filmmaker Loretta Fahrenholz.

In a statement, the director explained, "'Sketch Artist' is a haunted car ride. Kim drives as 'Unter' Pool summons passengers throughout nighttime L.A. The city drifts by, passengers intermingle in the back seat and Kim's deadly stare shocks pedestrians along her route."

If you watch closely, you'll also catch a cameo by Broad City's Abbi Jacobson.

While No Home Record marks Gordon's first solo album, it includes her previously shared 2016 single "Murdered Out." Gordon also previously teased her solo album last year.

No Home Record was produced by Justin Raisen and recorded at Los Angeles' Sphere Ranch. The album title was inspired by French-Belgian director Chantal Akerman's film No Home Movie.

"'Why a solo record? And why now?'" Gordon said in a statement. "I don't know, but it wouldn't have happened without the persistence of Justin Raisen. Living in L.A. the last few years it feels like home, but the transience of the place makes it feel sometimes like no home."

In addition to Gordon's storied career in Sonic Youth, she has spent more recent years working with Body/Head project alongside bandmate Bill Nace. The duo's most recent album was 2018's The Switch.
