Kanye West Defends A$AP Bari Amidst Sexual Assault Charges

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Sep 27, 2018

Shockingly, Kanye West has shared a controversial opinion on social media. This time, he's leaping to the defence of A$AP Bari.

Bari (real name Jabari Shelton) was arrested on two counts of sexual assault earlier this year. He has since filed a defamation lawsuit against his accuser.

West took to Instagram last night to praise the A$AP Mob member, despite the accusations.

He shared a screenshot of himself on Facetime with Bari, and claimed: "There's no way I would have the number 1 record in the world without this man here."

"When he got in trouble I was scared to say he was my friend just like I did with xxx and that was some pussy shit on my part," West continued. "I let the perception and the robots control me. That's the true sunken place."

He didn't stop after defending the late XXXTentacion, either, further thanking Bari for bringing him closer to A$AP Rocky.

West closed by saying: "Jedis never let perception and cancel culture get between them."

A$AP Bari and XXXTentacion aren't the only controversial figures accused of sexual misconduct that West has publicly defended; he's previously voiced support for the likes of Bill Cosby and Donald Trump, as well.

West is slated to appear as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live this weekend (September 29). He is also expected to release a new album called Yandhi that same night.
