Is Taylor Swift Mocking the Kim Kardashian Robbery in Her "Look What You Made Me Do" Video?

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Aug 28, 2017

Trolling the trolls, Taylor Swift assassinated each and every one of her meme-able past public personas in her "Look What You Made Me Do?" video, but a number of close watchers have pointed out a different and potentially problematic reference in the new clip.

The track itself is widely believed to be throwing shade at her tabloid rivals like Katy Perry and Kanye West, and one particular detail in the new video seems to drag West's wife Kim Kardashian into the drama β€” again.

During the scene in question, Swift bathes in a tub full of diamonds, with a symbolic one-dollar bill resting atop the pile of riches. While soaking in the jewels, she casually makes a gun-shooting gesture and can also be seen biting down on a diamond bracelet β€” and a lot of people think she's making a mockery of Kardashian's experience of being held at gunpoint in Paris last year.

According to reports, Kardashian was bound and gagged, then placed in the bathtub of her hotel room during the robbery, as the thieves made off with more than $10 million USD worth of jewellery.

Swift's video bears some pretty eerie similarities to the 2016 crime, and it's worth noting that the lyrics accompanying said scene are: "I don't like your perfect crime / How you laugh when you lie / You said the gun was mine / Isn't cool, no, I don't like you."

People on Twitter aren't very happy about it. See some of the harsh criticism below, then make your own judgement call by watching the video for "Look What You Made Me Do" at the bottom of the page.

Kardashian hasn't responded to the suspected slight, but she did retweet this hair flip on the day Swift's latest single dropped.
