Hear the Week's Best New Music: Lights, Gord Downie, Avril Lavigne

BY Exclaim! StaffPublished Nov 25, 2022

Happy Black Friday to you and your coupon-laden inbox! If you're braving the crowds out there in pursuit of some sweet, sweet deals, you will probably encounter a dizzying amount of Christmas music. If you're not quite ready for that yet, fear not — the week's best new Canadian music is waiting for you when you get back from the mall, or to accompany your online shopping.

In posthumous releases, we've got Lights' collaborative album with late electronic producer i_o, and the latest single from late Tragically Hip bandleader Gord Downie and super-producer Bob Rock's forthcoming collection. Avril Lavigne expands Love Sux and Tedy appropriately throws a Manic Party with his new EP.

Elsewhere in album releases, Toronto's Ian Daniel Kehoe and Luka Kuplowsky team up for their debut as Ingredient (Ingredient), Selina Martin reflects on there being something in the water (Time Spent Swimming), Witchrot go live and Said the Whale collect B-sides. Milton, ON's Billianne also shared her debut original single "No Wonder."
